East Ventures donates 200 mahogany trees for the Jakarta greening program with the President of the Republic of Indonesia
East Ventures, a pioneering and leading venture capital firm in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, contributed to the “Tree Planting Joint Movement” (in Bahasa: Gerakan Tanam Pohon Bersama) initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia together with the President of the Republic of Indonesia. East Ventures donated 200 mahogany trees which have been planted in East Jakarta and West Jakarta. Today, President Joko Widodo personally attended and planted trees in the Hutan Kota PT. JIEP Pulogadung Industrial Zone, together with Avina Sugiarto, Partner East Ventures, and other institutions.
East Ventures is committed to supporting environmental sustainability through sustainable initiatives and business practices. The plantation of 200 mahogany trees results in a total potential carbon sequestered of 15,124 kgCO₂e. It is hoped that East Ventures’ contribution can support one of the main objectives of this program, which is reducing air pollution in Jakarta.
“Climate change and air pollution in Jakarta are big challenges that require immediate action from various parties. We are glad to be able to play a role in supporting the environmental sustainability of Jakarta. Creating a positive impact has always been part of East Ventures’ DNA, and we hope that the support we provide can benefit society, especially in providing a green environment for future generations,” said Avina Sugiarto, Partner at East Ventures.
