East Ventures-backed startups, Xurya, Nusantics, and Komunal, were crowned as Top Startup in the G20 Digital Innovation Network 2022

East Ventures-backed portfolio companies: Xurya, Nusantics, and Komunal, have been crowned as the Top Startup in the G20 Digital Innovation Network 2022, held in Bali, Indonesia, from 2 – 4 September 2022. They represented Indonesia on this global stage as part of the G20 Presidency of Indonesia with a theme of “Recover Stronger, Recover Together”.

Xurya, a renewable energy company with a focus on Rooftop Solar Power Plants, was crowned as the 1st Top Winner by judges in the Green & Renewable Energy category. Nusantics, an Indonesian healthtech company focusing on applying advancements in genomics and microbiome research, was crowned as 1st Top Winner of Favorite Votes in the Healthcare category. Komunal, Indonesia’s first fintech company to offer Neo-rural bank services locally, was crowned as 1st Top Winner of Favorite Votes in the Financial Inclusivity category.

These East Ventures’ portfolios represent Indonesia as proof that local-made technological innovations bring tangible impact to the world economy. This forum also aimed to serve as the platform to encourage collaboration between stakeholders and policymakers to make these solutions more accessible and scalable. 

This forum was initiated by Italy in 2021 under the name G20 Digital Innovation League by selecting the ten best startups, including East Ventures-backed startups Nalagenetics and Ruangguru. This year, the name has changed to G20 Digital Innovation Network.  

The G20 Digital Innovation Network emphasizes the message of the Indonesian G20 Presidency through adopting the theme of “The Rise of the Digital Economy: Post-pandemic Recovery and Beyond”, highlighted in several sectors including:

• Realizing equitable and affordable global healthcare through technology
• Accelerating the transition towards green & renewable energy sources in various sectors
• Creating an inclusive digital transformation through further development of education and digital literacy to secure common prosperity in the digital age (education and technology)
• Introducing digital financial solutions to the economically underprivileged (financial inclusivity)
• Reinventing the future of the supply chain
