Indonesia PASTI BISA Safeguards Oxygen raises over US$ 1 million to donate 1,450 oxygen concentrators, providing further support for Indonesia’s Ministry of Health in COVID-19 battle

July 30, 2021

Indonesia PASTI BISA (IDPB) Safeguards Oxygen – an initiative by East Ventures that seeks to support the Indonesian government’s response to fight the COVID-19 pandemic through medical oxygen distribution – recently concluded its two-week fundraiser, receiving US$ 1,202,709 from 788 individual and corporate donors.

The fundraising, which ended on 26 July, exceeded its initial target of US$ 1 million within 10 days. The funds raised are used to supply 1,450 oxygen concentrators to hospitals in need around Indonesia, and the public will is able to track the progress of the distribution effort over at www.indonesiapastibisa.com

The success of the fundraiser is largely attributed to the generosity of the individual and corporate donors – including Emtek (Elang Mahkota Teknologi), Bukalapak, BEENEXT Capital Management and PT. Sasa Inti.

President Director of Emtek Sutanto Hartono said, “EMTEK is actively providing meaningful contributions to improve the well-being of our society through various social activities. We are grateful to partner with East Venture in Indonesia PASTI BISA Safeguards Oxygen movement, to deliver the much needed supply of oxygen to the hospitals across Indonesia during this Covid-19 crisis.”

Founder and CEO of BEENEXT Capital Management Teruhide Sato, “On behalf of myself and the entire BEENEXT family, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all the victims of the pandemic in Indonesia.  The country and its startup ecosystem have welcomed us with open arms and has allowed for a rewarding relationship for the past ten years.  Naturally, we feel a strong commitment and friendship towards Indonesia and were humbled when asked to join Indonesia PASTI BISA Safeguards Oxygen. We deeply thank East Ventures team and all the project members for making a difference by putting energies and creativity to work in the best possible way and innovating to help those most in need.”

CEO of Bukalapak Rachmat Kaimuddin said, “As one of the pioneers in the technology industry in Indonesia, that values gotong royong spirit, we are honor to be part of this movement, and we believe that Indonesia PASTI BISA is an example on how Indonesian technology capabilities can bring significant impacts to help the country on fighting against COVID-19.”

CEO and President Director of Sasa Inti Rudolf Tjandra said, “This noble and praiseworthy initiative of East Ventures and proudly supported by Sasa Inti is one incredulous example of the limitless potential of Indonesia & its people in our globalized world. We are immensely grateful to be afforded the opportunity to be a part of it.”

Founding partner of East Ventures Willson Cuaca said, “Indonesia is a big country with friendly people. Evidently in difficult times like these, they move together to help each other. Not only that, concern for Indonesia also comes from friends in various countries.”

As a pioneering donation platform providing end-to-end solutions, IDPB Safeguards Oxygen is committed to supporting the country’s efforts in combating COVID-19. The platform’s donation tracking system is currently used by Indonesia’s Ministry of Health to distribute relief grants, and as of 28 July 2021, IDPB Safeguards Oxygen has dispatched 1,600 oxygen concentrators owned by the Ministry of Health.

IDPB Safeguards Oxygen partnered with three companies backed by East Ventures – Bonza, Waresix, and Advotics – to help develop its cutting-edge donation tracking system. It employs Bonza’s data platform to map and predict oxygen demand across Indonesia, and leverages Waresix’s distribution network to deliver the oxygen concentrators. Advotics then helps to track the progress of each ordered oxygen concentrator until it arrives at the destination hospitals.

IDPB Safeguards Oxygen is expected to scale up its effort to help COVID-19 patient care in the country. The success of the movement is a result of the overwhelming support from both partners and donors. Notable partners include Temasek Foundation, Indonesia’s Ministry of Health, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore, IndoTech SG, Indonesian Professionals Association Singapore (IPA SG), and KawalCOVID19.

Following the success of the recent fundraiser, IDPB Safeguards Oxygen is also participating in the larger ongoing initiative Oxygen for Indonesia, led by Aldi Haryopratomo, which seeks to raise US$ 10 million.
