Vodcast SSI Ep 6 – Melisa Irene: Finding the Right Founders to Invest In
Founded in 2009, East Ventures is an Indonesian venture capital that focuses on early-stage startups. They have invested in more than 170 companies in Southeast Asia, from Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
East Ventures is the first investor of two Indonesian unicorns, namely Tokopedia and Traveloka. Other startups in the East Ventures portfolio include Ruangguru, Sociolla, Warung Pintar, Fore Coffee, MokaPOS, IDN Media, Katadata, Shopback, Tech in Asia, Xendit, CoHive, Sirclo, and Loket.
In a conversation with Melisa Irene (Partner, East Ventures), Startup Studio discussed what factors are considered in considering what kind of startup venture capitalists are looking for.

There will be a big difference in the depth of knowledge that a founder who really wants to create a solution to a problem has with a founder who makes a startup based on trends.
